Dear amigos,

We’d like to thank you all for your support throughout 2018. 

The last four months in particular have been the most successful since our opening in October 2017. 

We really enjoyed seeing new faces as well as many returning customers. 

A big GRACIAS to the bustling Chester community. We enjoy being part of it every day as an independent restaurant! 

And a special shout out to the local #vegan community, that has been so supportive of our large plant-based menu.

Yorkos: Jack Burrito's exclusive Yorkshire pudding based tacos

At Jack Burrito, we created the craziest (and tastiest!) solution to your ‘Sunday Roast or Mexican food’ dilemma: YORKOS. They are Yorkshire pudding based tacos, stuffed with roasted veggies and served with a good old pot of gravy.

You can choose between Mexican Spiced Beef Chilli, Pork Carnitas and Herb & Lime Marinated Pull Chicken. Or add some Mexican stuffing: how festive!

“I wanted to find a way to combine the essence of the traditional British Christmas dinner and Mexican street food,’ said executive chef Bethany Donkin. “What better than Yorkshire pudding based tacos?”

Not only have they been greatly appreciated by our amigos: they also ended up on the local news for Chester and Cheshire!

‘It’s the most wonderful time of the year,’ they say, and it is indeed: Chester is covered in fairy lights, the colourful stalls of the Christmas market are popping up in town and Jack Burrito has a brand new winter menu!

We are very excited to introduce it to you. Our executive chef Bethany Donkin has invested a lot of time in researching traditional Mexican recipes and creating a wide array of South American inspired dishes that are perfect to enjoy when it’s chilli outside (pun intended).

Jack Burrito’s new menu is a combination of all-time favourites, a few Autumn Specials that proved too popular to be left out, and many new exotic flavours. As always, almost every item has a vegan alternative, meaning that the vegan menu offers around thirty plant-based dishes, from starters to mains to desserts.

Here are just a few highlights.

Our ‘antojitos’—Mexican street food that can be enjoyed as a starter, with your main or on its own—now include elotes (Mexican corn on the cob with cheese and mayo) and garnachas (fried corn tortilla with meaty or vegan toppings and salsas).

Among Jack Burrito’s new mains you will find quesadillas (cheesy half-moon toasted tortillas) and mole poblano (chicken or mushroom topped with traditional mole sauce, national dish of Mexico).

Also, hot dogs are finally back: El Salvador is inspired by the homonymous country, where this tasty street food is topped with pickled cabbage and mustard.

Due to popular demand, we are keeping our Feijoada (Brazilian black bean and sausage stew) and molletes (Mexican baguettes) from the Autumn Specials menu.

Then we are sure you’ll love our Yorkos, Jack’s very own Yorkshire pudding based tacos with roasted veggies and a pot of gravy, and our Winter Special Burrito, which includes spicy cranberry chipotle.

Mouth-watering desserts

There are many new additions to the dessert menu, too, with a special mention going to the mouth-watering Ginger bread buñuelos: fried dough balls served with hot chocolate fudge sauce or winter fruit compote.

Oh, and don’t worry: our popular churros are staying!
